Punxsutawney Polamalu Video

TruTV revealed its first-ever Super Bowl ad today — one that features a Pittsburgh Steeler safety in a role favored by a certain groundhog.
Slated to run near the two-minute warning prior to halftime, the commercial, created by Grey, showcases Troy Polamalu as “Punxsutawney Polamalu,” who sees his shadow, a proclamation of six more weeks of football in the form of NFL Full Contact, the series that will bow on TruTV on Feb. 8 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), the day after Super Bowl XLIV.
Produced by NFL Films, NFL Full Contact provides a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to stage many of the spectacles that go into an exciting NFL season.

“A Super Bowl ad puts TruTV in front of the biggest television audience of the year,” said Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager of TruTV/In Session, in a statement. “It’s a great way to attract new fans to the network and introduce them to NFL Full Contact, a show that will give viewers unique access to the real people behind six of the NFL’s largest events.”

Concerns ranged from a broken bone to ligament damage, said a source.

“Everyone hopes it’s not something that’s going to be a problem long term,” said one source, “but it doesn’t look good.”

Pierce suffered the injury in the first quarter Monday in Washington, leaving the game with 2:01 left. He returned with 7:53 to go in the second period and played the rest of the half.

Just before the break, he collided again with Butler. They knocked knees, and both players needed a while before they could get up and off the floor. Read the rest of this entry »
