Chad Ochocinco Considering Playing For Sporting Kansas City?
March 14th, 2011 | by |
We’ve already heard about the budding professional wrestling career of Bart Scott and the budding professional boxing career of Tom Zbikowski, but yet another football player is eying up a potential new career during the NFL lockout. Wide receiver Chad Ochocinco and Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City (formerly Kansas City Wizards) joked around on twitter today about Chad’s potential move to the team. Ochocinco has joked about playing professional soccer before, suggesting that he’s good enough to play for FC Barcelona. If that approaches truth at all, then the Sporks (best team nickname in sports) could certainly use a player of Chad’s quality.
Check out the tweets after the jump.

Honestly how many of you would come and support myself and my new futbol team @SportingKC if I played there?
.@ochocinco fans and #SportingKC fans – this is what it would look like http://yfrog.com/h3fixuhuj
The photoshop of Ochocinco in the jersey is a nice touch!
It seems like this is a ridiculous joke on the surface, but it’s not terribly far-fetched. There doesn’t seem like there’s going to be a resolution to the NFL labor dispute anytime soon, and Ochocinco is 33 years old. He has a limited amount of time left at peak speed and fitness. Additionally, if Dane Richards and the Nyassi brothers have shown us anything, it’s that there is a place in Major League Soccer for wingers with world class speed, but little to no positional sense or crossing ability.
