Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on March 24, 2011, people will gather at Sylvan Theater (15th Street & Independence Avenue, SW) before walking the Tidal Basin in the spirit of hope and rebuilding. All donations received throughout the fundraising effort will go directly to the American Red Cross and their Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund.

The Festival begins on March 26, 2011 and includes diverse and creative programming that honors the gift of trees each year and the enduring friendship between the two countries.

The Festival is also holding an online auction, and a portion of the proceeds will be designated to the fund.
